Defense Tech Ecosystem for
Japan’s National Security
A Platform for Japan U.S. & NATO Founders

JDTI (Japan Defense Tech Initiative) is a platform accelerating ecosystem development and business growth in defense and national security technology.

Geopolitical instability is rising, and global power dynamics are shifting. At the same time, Japan's defense tech sector is experiencing rapid growth—innovative companies are increasingly addressing critical national security challenges, unlocking new opportunities.

We founded JDTI to realize the convergence of technology and security, partnering with startups and companies creating breakthrough solutions in defense tech.

From identifying promising technologies to real-world implementation, we foster connections and create opportunities for all stakeholders. Together, we are building an environment where Japanese innovation contributes to global peace and security.

Our Mission

Establishing Japan's New Defense Tech Ecosystem

Our mission is to remove structural barriers to entry in the national security sector, enabling startups to innovate with clarity and scale sustainably. We are building the foundational industry infrastructure for the next wave of defense tech innovation.

We erase boundaries between government and private sector, research and deployment, creating a collaborative space where cross-domain expertise converges. The technologies refined through this ecosystem transcend product-level solutions—they evolve into next-generation deterrence capabilities.

From technological innovation to national security strength.
We are establishing a new industrial structure to make this vision a reality.

Our Focus Spans Three Core Domains

The potential of "Defense Tech" extends well beyond conventional major defense equipment, encompassing an increasingly broad range of domains and capabilities.

As the security environment grows more severe and complex, emerging domains-space, cyberspace, and the electromagnetic spectrum-alongside cross-domain technological integration, are recognized as foundational pillars of future defense capability.

JDTI defines Defense Tech broadly as "innovation contributing to national security," encompassing the application of dual-use and commercial technologies. We are committed to building a platform that enables the social implementation of diverse technologies capable of contributing to security in its broadest sense, across the following three domains.

What is the Defense Tech?

Countering Emerging Threats

The rise of space, cyber, and electromagnetic competition — combined with the rapid spread of unmanned systems — is quietly but fundamentally changing what defense actually means. We believe that developing technologies to navigate this shift is one of the most important problems worth working on right now.

01.

Establishing Digital Sovereignty

Information is a modern-era critical infrastructure. We invest in technologies that preserve informational autonomy without foreign dependency—sovereign data systems safeguarding classified information and sovereign AI environments ensuring secure, domestically-controlled AI infrastructure.

02.

Building Societal and Economic Resilience

True defense means continuity. During crises or natural disasters, maintaining civilian operations is the strongest deterrent. We support supply chain visibility, logistics resilience technologies, and infrastructure-critical systems that prevent economic and operational collapse.
